Get Well Soon
Hello there! Welcome back from our PPA break last week. It is nice to have a break but also fun to get back to work, especially when your work is making cards! This week's Pals Paper Arts challenge is a color challenge, check out the colors, grab your provisions, and create something fabulous and head on over to the PALS and show us your stuff!
I found this ruffled paper tutorial online, and I made a project for my mantle using old book pages. I wanted to try out the same technique with card stock, and it worked beautifully. It's a bit bulky for a card, but I liked the look.
Can you spy the gold embossing, oh my! I have had this gold embossing powder forever, but since silver has been in style for years, I've never used it. Everything got a liberal dose of gold embossing.
I stamped first with my From the Heart stamp set in midnight muse, die cut it with the matching labels framelits, then distressed the edges a bit. I rubbed the edges on my versamark pad and just poured on the embossing powder. It is a messy vintage look, so don't worry about stray powder, that was the fun of it. You can also see that I have gold blots over the Afternoon Picnic DSP, I used my retired French Foliage water spot stamp then heat embossed with the gold powder.
A little peek of gold embossing on the crumb cake card base using the Lovely Romance stamp set, once I started embossing, I had to force myself to stop, really.
Some card stock scrap, crushed curry chevron ribbon, naturals ribbon, vintage faceted buttons and baker's twine and this card was finished.
This is a rather large size card, it is 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 but that's ok, I have my new envelope punch board to make a special envelope for it.
This card is heading it's way to Utah for Shelli Gardner, the founder of Stampin' Up!, she had an awful horse riding accident last week, and what better way to cheer her up than a card? I like to fold the top of the envelope to the front and add a belly band to both dress it up and hold the card inside.
So have you pulled out the trendy gold embossing yet? I am usually a silver/platinum/pewter type of gal, but this gold embossing was so fun, and stunning. Drop me a line and let me know! Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you were inspired, enjoy!
