Flowers For You

Hello there!  Today's card is made especially for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  I have never entered a card over there yet, even though I love the sketches and even made one of my artisan cards from one.  Check out this fabulous sketch:

I loved this sketch a soon as I saw it, and thought that this would be a great card to showcase a new technique that I saw on Dawn Olchefske's blog.  I made my own layers sized to fit this card.  I love this simple continuous image technique.  You size your base pieces and put one on top of each other and just stamp.  Then you add your layers for a nice seamless look.  The images from the stamp set Papaya Collage were just perfect for this technique.  An additional butterfly was fussy cut and popped up with stampin dimensionals.  Some basic pearls finish it off.

Do you see that frame on the soft suede base?  It is also from the stamp set Papaya Collage.  It was too wide for what I wanted, so I got out my markers and my stamp-a-ma-jig, and by eliminating the center swirl on the top and bottom, I pieced a new frame together.  I sized my main images from there.

I love flags, they are huge now in the crafting world.  I cut these with my new bitty banners framelits.  I tried out the staple effect, and I think I like it.  A brand new vintage faceted button was painstakingly threaded with pool party seam binding ribbon, and attached on a bow.

Let's talk color choice and paper.  The new catalog has these great color combos, they even go as far as printing the blocks of color that they used for a great reference.  This color choice is on page 35, the colors are pool party, summer starfruit, soft suede and old olive.

The paper choice is a mixture of three DSP packs, Comfort Cafe, Patio Party, and the retired Attic Boutique.  Even though they are different in color and patterns, you can still mix and match for a very cohesive look.

A simple sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and cut with the bitty banners framelits.  I used my stampin markers for the two toned look.

There you have it, a pretty card with summer's most popular colors! Oh how I wish I had a sewing machine to add some sewing, the one I borrowed from my SIL Amber had to go back home. Is there anyone out there that has a newer machine that is willing to barter for some retired SU products?  I would be willing to take that offer!

All of these products and more can be found anytime at my ONLINE STORE, so hop on over there and take a look, you won't be disappointed.  Thank you for stopping by, I hope you were inspired, enjoy!

Love this card! It's amazing how versatile the Summer Starfruit color is turning out to be. And I'm loving this continuous-image-stamping/layering technique; your card is the perfect showcase for it all!

I, too, saw this technique on Dawn's blog and loved it so much that I used it for my project with friends on a cardmaking play day this week at my house. My friends loved the finished results. I used browns like Dawn did, but I really love your take on the technique using several colors. I'll give it a try. TFS. Love your work. Jan D., Florida
