Happy Birthmas!

This is a Birthday card for my wonderful cousin Catherine.  Her birthday is on the 19th and mine is on the 28th so we jokingly call our birthday's "Birthmas" since they are both so close to Christmas.  It is very tough to have a Christmas birthday, they always seem to get overlooked or forgotten in the rush of Christmas time.  So I make sure to always try to send her something special, and this card fits the bill.  Catherine put the pressure on me by sending an email last week saying that she keeps checking my blog to see if she can see her card, and I know that she is going to peek, I just hope she enjoys her card that was made especially for her.

Catherine is half English or British, I guess I should say, so I thought that this sentiment would fit in well, I am sure my Aunt will get a kick out of it.  I love these colors together, the pink pirouette, peach parfait, and calypso coral go perfect with the soft suede, crumb cake and natural ivory colors.  Just a super feminine color palette.  The layout from the Pals Paper Arts #124 gave me a great starting point.

This card has a ton of ribbon, starting off with some very wide pink pirouette grosgrain ribbon that is wrapped around the card front.  The little bundle of ruffled ribbon, victoria lace ribbon, and pumpkin pie taffeta ribbon was secured with in a bow of crumb cake seam binding ribbon.  I left the ribbon free flowing and extended it off the edge.  A scallop cut piece of First Edition SDSP was sponged with soft suede a bit.

You can just see the beautiful stamps from the Creative Elements stamp set were used at the top and bottom of the card stamped in soft suede.  The frame from the Designer Frames EF pack was used, then a raw edge was torn, and sponged with soft suede ink for a bit of distressed feel.  Some little flowers and pearls finish the card off.

I really love how this card turned out, it is one of my favorites.  The colors are just so pretty.  The layout is great so check out the PPA site for some great inspiration.  Thanks for stopping by, I hope you were inspired, enjoy!

Just gorgeous! They really are such pretty "girlfriend" cards that a little box of them (from the SS extras online) would be a great gift under the tree. Ummm. Well maybe only a couple of my girlfriends will get them. The card here is gorgeous but certainly not the quick ones. It is full of attention to detail and definitely a hug with a fold in the middle!

I love your ribbons! I've never seen them done so nicely. I think being "Queen" for the day will make her feel special even though she shares her birthmas with a major holiday!! How sweet!
