PPA 102 Summer Time
Here is my challenge card for the PPA, the theme is Summer Time. Our summers are filled with time at the lake. The whole family, including the dogs love the boat. We are fortunate enough to have a boat and live in an area with a huge lake. Here is my girl Schyler, just having a ball.
I love this picture of her, she has turned into such a boat dog. This is the only picture that we have of her without her life jacket, I don't know why she doesn't have it on, it is a rule with us. Schyler is searching for ducks, birds, etc, any type of waterfowl, hence the life jacket rule, she will jump out of a moving boat to try to catch her prey. When thinking about my card I kept this picture in mind, and here is what I came up with!
When I kept laughing when I was creating her with punches, I knew it was going to be cute. This has been one of the funnest cards to make. It seems like with a little creativity and punches you can make anything! Oh, but the mess was tremendous, all of those punch scraps were littered all over the place.
A bunch of punches were used in this card, and I will try to remember them all. The modern label punch was used for the boat, I just trimmed off the curly edges. The waves were made using the curly label punch, and each one was curled upward. Schyler's head was made out of 1 inch circle punch, a black brad for her nose, ears are the build a blossom punch, eyes and small black dots were the owl punch. Her body is the retired small oval, with another small half oval for her arms. The cupcake punch was used for the clouds, and the jewelry tag punch for the Friend tag. Did I miss any? HMM, probably. The colors I used are Real Red, Basic Black, Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, & Whisper White. The bashful blue DSP is retired.
The ribbon is Real Red 1 1/4 striped grosgrain ribbon folded around a toothpick and secured with sticky strip. The tiny tags stamp set was used on the jewelry tag and baker's twine secures it to the toothpick. I highly doubt this card will ever be given away, it just makes me laugh every time I see it. It will go on my wall, with other special items that I have made. So what do you think? Does this card remind you of summer time? Drop me a line, I love to read your comments! Enjoy.
Oh, here is one more picture of our cat Barley checking out Schyler's card. She however, does not go on the boat!
