PPA 99 Stars
Here is my PPA 99 challenge card. The challenge is CAS Stars. CAS is not my style, so I kept repeating clean and simple, clean and simple, to myself like a mantra. I started out with my Stars 2 die and cut a big blue star, I sniped the ends off and was going to make pennants out of the layered points. But when I started to figure out how to put it all together, I tried the star shape again, and loved it.
The large medallion is a two 1 1/2 x 12 pieces of Night of Navy DSP pleated every 1/2 inch glued together at the ends. You really need to have a circle punch with sticky strip ready so when you scrunch it all together you can attach the circle to keep it circular. It's a bit tricky, but with practice it becomes easier. A 2 inch circle of textured whisper white was put on the top, and two layered stars were put on top. A firecracker (my husband said they are called ladyfingers) was rolled out of cherry cobbler CS and a bit of baker's twine makes the fuse. The same baker's twine was wrapped around the whisper white square lattice embossed background paper.
So here are some tips, when you score the DSP use a somewhat light hand, if you notice at the bottom of my medallion, the tips are white, I seemed to mess them them up. Also sticky strip is your friend when you make your medallion, you can't use too much!
So what do you think, did I keep it clean and simple? I love to hear your comments, so please leave them. Also, keep in mind that the retired accessories and stamps are only available until the end of the month, and my blog special ends then as well. Enjoy!
