Birthday Chic

Hello there!  Today's card is my Goddess card for the Stampin' Royalty challenge blog.  This week's challenge is a "Birthday" challenge, that's right, any type of birthday related item is good!  Create something fabulous, and head on over to the Stampin' Royalty and link it up!

Check out this new stamp, you can get the whole Vintage Verses stamp set FREE with any $50 purchase, how cool is that?!  I love the hip and trendy fonts, this stamp set will be a keeper.  You can shop 24/7 right from home at my ONLINE STORE right now and pick up this great set for yourself.

Can you tell what I stamped the image on?  It is the new canvas creations, it has a nice vintage worn feel to it, I am sure that it would fray nicely, but I didn't try that yet.  I stamped in raspberry ripple ink for a darker look.  My big shot cut through this canvas fine, but I did need to use an extra shim for a nice sharp cut.

I received a cutie birthday card from Patti Willey, that used this stamp, and was die cut the same way, layered and pierced and oh so pretty.  I borrowed this look from her, check out Patti's blog, she has some really pretty cards to share.

This cutie vintage flower was made from a technique that I showed y'all way back in 2011.  You can click HERE to take you to that post and a link for the how to video.  It is very easy to do, and it works best with wide ribbon.  This is the new 1 1/4 two-tone ribbon in pink pirouette/rose ribbon, I snipped a flower from the flower trim and glued it in the center.  You can see when the edges are frayed the two tone look you get, BUT if you are going to make one for yourself, here are some important tips:
  • Sew the long running seam tightly
  • instead of 1/4 inch cuts in the ribbon, make them wider, close to 1/2 inch
  • DO NOT pull on the ribbon too much, really you want to tie the thread and set the back with a glue gun, and walk away.  If you don't, you will get one that looks like this:

While it is pretty, it was loosing the threads and shedding everywhere, and it looks very, very messy, so unless that is the look you are going for, the less you work with it, the better.

A close up look at the fabulous new More Amore SDSP, even though it is a "valentine" themed paper, you can still use it for other occasions.

I used this great sketch from The Paper Players.  I have not played there for a while now, shame on me!  It is another great challenge blog and one I frequent often, they have an amazing design team as well.

There you have it, a fun Birthday Chic (or chick) however you want to say it, card, both applies.

Paisley Anne, our new Whippet puppy is doing great, she is growing fast, as you can see.  She is about five months old now, and has been completely house trained since she was about three months old, wow.  Paisley is super smart, our smartest puppy yet, and oh so sweet.  Here she is snuggling with her new favorite toy, and her best big sister Schyler.  She is a great addition to our family.
Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you were inspired, enjoy!

Polka Dot Kindness

Hello there!  Today's card is my goddess card for The Stampin' Royalty challenge blog.  This week's challenge is anything with Polka Dots, easy peasy.  Grab your supplies, create something fabulous and link it up over at Stampin' Royalty.

The Daydream Medallion stamp set and floral frames framelits is a combo that cannot be beat!  The images go together so well, they make a beautiful focal point.  The Kindness Matters and the Papillon Potpourri stamp sets were also used today.

That cutie primrose petals scallop circle was snipped out of the new More Amore SDSP laser cut heart page.

I heat embossed the butterfly with clear embossing powder, and added some bling.  This also adds to the polka dot challenge!

Somehow, so often the "old" supplies are overlooked for the new, this Patio Party DSP has been neglected.  The colors are vibrant and oh so pretty, perfect for any occasion.

Fun and funky!  I always need thank you cards for my wonderful customers, so who knows, this one might make it's way to you!  Don't forget that this is the PERFECT time for you to make the most of your money.  Sale-a-bration is here, you can receive a free product with each $50 purchase.  I also have monthly drawing for all my customers, so any SAB order will enter you into that drawing as well.  My ONLINE STORE is always open and ready to help you find what you need.

Mackie had her first high school dance last weekend.  The Winter Formal was the place to be.  We had fun dress shopping and getting make-up and hair done.  It was great girl time, she had a blast and is looking forward to next year's dance already.

Mackie's cheerleading team was invited to cheer at the Charlotte Checkers hockey game.  Tate had a ball and was even given a hockey puck from the visiting team.  He loved his first game.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope you were inspired, enjoy!

More Vintage...

It's time for a fun new Sketch Challenge over at Pals Paper Arts. Our Resident Artist, Margaret Moody, has created some exciting new sketches for us this year. All you have to do is create something fabulous, using the elements of the sketch. Then link up your creation to the Pals Paper Arts blog. The challenge goes live this Thursday, January 17th and runs all the way until January 31st, so you have plenty of time to play!
I have added one of my favorite stamp sets From My Heart to this card that is chock full of new products.  A lot of the products are vintage related, hence more vintage for you!  I stamped the stamp in crumb cake ink, on a piece of the Tea for Two DSP for a wonderful vintage feel.
These flowers are part of the Artisan Embellishments kit, I have been hording this kit, but I talked myself finally into using them.
Do you also see the new Delicate Details Lace Tape?  This also has been waiting to be used.  I really love it.
More fun sewing and look at that fabulous chevron cut out.  Very easy peasy, just follow the pattern on the DSP using your paper snips, so simple.  The Tea for Two paper pack has a lot of elements that you can snip or punch out to customize your projects.  They all work together for a soft feminine look.
So what do y'all think of all of this vintage?  I am starting to love it, I don't know that it will become my "style" but I sure do love to dabble in it!
We have been super busy as usual here at the Conner house, take a look at what has been going on:
We headed to Savannah Georgia this past weekend for Mackie's sailing team.  The regatta was held in the tiniest lake, I didn't know how they were going to sail in it, but they did.  We battled with no wind for most of the day, so there was a lot of sitting around waiting, and since Mackie was a little sick, it was not the fun we planned.  We had planned to do some sight seeing after the regatta but did not get a chance since we had to head home to get the puppy.  We did have a wonderful time there for the short time we were there though, my cousin Catherine surprised Mackie by meeting us there, so fun!
When we got back, Mackie wanted to start to practice her driving skills.  She is starting drivers ed next week, and will turn 15 in a few weeks, I cannot believe it!  Tate came down with Mackie's cold, poor baby, I just hope Catherine, Chris and I will not get it as well!
Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope you were inspired, enjoy!

Just for You

Hello there! I hope your start of 2013 has been great, ours has, busy but great.  Today's card is my goddess card for this week's Stampin' Royalty challenge.  The challenge this week is a photo challenge, take a look, grab your supplies and head on over to Stampin' Royalty to link up your creation.
I love this inspiration picture, it looks like a nursery to me, such cheerful colors.  This picture brought to mind the new sale-a-bration free Sycamore Street DSP.  Hang in there, this paper will be available free to you starting January 22-March 22 with a $50 purchase.
A close up look at the beautiful paper.  Tangerine tango scallop ribbon and pool party seam binding ribbon match perfectly.
Some fun sewing.
Lots of Tags sizzlits made this beautiful oval.  The Friendship Preserves stamp set and matching windows collection framelits are still available.  The Bitty Banners stamp set and matching bitty banners framelits made the alternative sentiment.  The chevron embossing folder adds some texture, and a large basic pearl finishes it off.
This card was based on this fabulous layout.  I knew right away that this layout would showcase this great new Sycamore Street DSP to it's advantage.
We have been keeping busy so far this new year.  Tate started preschool on Tuesday.  I had been resistant about enrolling him, but Mackie and Chris finally talked me into it.  I knew that Tate was ready, but I was not.  Tate is my constant companion and I knew that I would miss him way too much.  I did find a preschool that I love, so that really helps alleviate some of my distress.  He had a great first day and I only cried a little, ok a lot, but he had a ton of fun.
This is Tate at his cubby (no, that is NOT his jacket, lol) and riding to school in Daddy's truck.  He had a great time and is ready to go back.  Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you were inspired, enjoy!

New PPA Look!

Today, the Pals Paper Arts challenge blog has a new look, and a new format. Each member of the design team gets to choose a Pick! We are excited to make these changes to make the PPA one of the best challenge blogs out there. Are you ready to see what the first challenge of the year is? It is a color challenge, take a look, grab your supplies and head on over to the PPA to link up your creation, we can't wait to see it!

There is a lot going on today in the Stampin' Up world, the holiday catalog is finished and the brand new Spring Catalog is live and available for purchase.

I know that y'all have been seeing a lot of the new items around blog land lately, but now you can get them for yourself.  I have featured a few of the new items on today's card.  Check out that cutie doily, love them!  Also the new Hearts a Flutter bundle, which includes a stamp set and matching framelits!

This love stamp is from the Affection Collection stamp set, it was cut out with the new hearts a flutter framelits, I manipulated it to cut the same edge on both sides, for a label look.

Some sweet black 1/8 taffeta ribbon works beautifully with these colors.  Basic rhinestones add some sparkle!

My wonderful family gave me a new sewing machine for Christmas, so I had to break it out and start playing with it.  I have been missing sewing on my cards since my mom's old sewing machine gave up last year.

I really love pink and black, when you add the basic gray in, it makes for a very trendy color palette.  So striking.

Here are some fun family pictures from Christmas, the kids had a great time, we were able to spend some wonderful quality family time together.  Today Mackie heads back to school, so back to our normal routine.  I will miss having her home, she is such a great girl.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you were inspired, enjoy!
