Birthday Boy

It's time for another fabulous Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge! This week we're showcasing a beautiful fall color combination, starting on Thursday, October 4th. Join us at Pals Paper Arts with your creation!

Look at this sweet elephant wearing a party hat and all paper pieced.  I love how he turned out,  the fussy cutting was really not too bad.  I received this stamp set You're Amazing at convention, I love the vintage feel of this stamp set.

When working with a color challenge, a great tip is to look at the DSP in the catalog, pick out the ones you have and search for the specific colors that you need.  This card was made using individual pieces of DSP from three packs; Comfort Cafe, Houndstooth & Scaringbone, and Candlelight Christmas.  Make sure your patterns all work together.

A bit of flag cutting, die cutting and crimping was in store for these strips of DSP.  The finishing touches edgelit made a great edge that was then crimped.

This main border stamp actually has the phrase "You're Amazing" on it, but in this case I wanted a Happy Birthday sentiment, so I just colored in the border using my Stamp-n-write markers, inked up my HB stamp and stamped in the now empty space.  Some color spritzing, and sponging helped to blend the sentiment in.

Did you notice the use of the new stampin pierce mat?  It is pierced using the new piercing pack and tool.  I do like this look, I just usually forget about it.  I think it adds a lot to the background paper.

This is a great Fall color combo AND a great color scheme for a masculine card, which is what I needed for this card.  This card is for my brother-in-law Craig.  I can never seem to get his birth date straight, so his cards end up late.  I am resolving to get this right next year!  He is a wonderful husband to my sister Sheri, we miss both of them so much, we wish we lived closer, Happy belated birthday Craig!

And as I suspected, my sister Sheri did see her card online early yesterday, I was hoping that she was busy and didn't have a chance to blog surf, but she did, it's ok though, Happy Birthday Sheri!

Tomorrow I am sharing some Halloween inspiration, so come back to see some great desing tips.  Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you were inspired, enjoy!
