Chicken Friends

Hello there!  Welcome to this week's PPA sketch challenge.  I hope you're ready for another great Pals Paper Arts challenge! Margaret Moody has a wonderful sketch for us, so get ready to play along.  You'll have a whole week to play along with the challenge, starting on Thursday, February 16th. Grab your supplies and I hope you'll join us.

I'm no chicken when it comes to today's card!  I thought the chicken would be a great focal point, and it fit the label framelet perfectly.  I really don't know what I did before the framelets, I just love them a lot.  The second background was fussy cut around the main framelet, and now after looking at, I should of done a better job.  Oh well.  This great chicken image and all of the DSP comes from the Beau Chateau DSP pack.  Using your DSP is a great way to get a focal image, you just gotta think outside the box!

I wanted something different for my scalloped edge border, so I came up with using the smallest label framelet as a scallop.  I snipped the main part off, and just used the edges, since you basically cut them in half, you get two for each cut.  I do love how they turned out, the pearls just add a perfect touch.

I am going to admit to cheating here, the DSP and accents are all pink pirouette, and the beautiful pleated ribbon is blushing bride.  Usually I try to keep to the same colors, but it worked for this card.  The trio of flowers are sahara sand, soft suede and pink pirouette punched out of the itty bitty punch pack.  A tiny pearl and a friends tag tied with baker's twine just finishes it off.

Since this is a square sketch, my card is a 5 x 5 square.  I like the look of the bigger cards, it shows off the pretty layers real nice.  So what do you think?  Grab your supplies and play along.  I hope you were inspired today, enjoy!

Hi Sandie! I have to agree with Mary and Linda that your edging and flowers are the sweetest! So cool to see the framelit used in a different way. Even though I'm not a big rooster kind of gal, this is a gorgeous card with pretty delicate colors. I love it!

Love the rooster!! What a gorgeous card, and happy to see how the two pinks worked so well together. Like others, I was really captured by your use of the framelits for your scallop edge - brilliant and beautiful idea!
