Trick or Treat

Hello there!  Are you ready for some sketch-spiration?! Margaret Moody's got you covered with PPA's first September Sketch Challenge. Just include the elements in the sketch below and link up your creation to the Pals Paper Arts blog starting today.

I love sketch challenges, they are my favorite by far, and having a sketch already planned out for you makes it easy.

I started this card first with my Witches' Brew DSP, I love the skull background paper and knew that I wanted to showcase it.  I planned on heat embossing some sort of stamp on it, so when I saw the frame from the Papaya Collage stamp set, it was a BINGO moment.  Gold embossing powder is my go-to color of the moment, and it fit this card perfectly.

Washi, anyone?  The witches' brew washi tape was a natural for my stripes, I added some basic black 1/8 taffeta ribbon, for some texture.

I took some liberty with the placement of the circle image on the sketch, I just didn't want to cover up too much of the skull, so I placed it on the left hand side instead.  I stamped the Tags 4 You sentiment in whisper white craft ink on basic black cardstock, and punched it out with the matching label bracket punch.

Let me tell you about my new favorite bundle; the Tags 4 You stamp set and matching label bracket punch.  The bundle is priced right at $26.95 for clear mount (133294) and $30.95 for wood mount (133293).  The bundle includes both the stamp set and punch, and has a stamp for each of the upcoming holidays, such a versatile set.

This is my first Halloween card of the year, and I love how it turned out.  Have you tried heat embossing yet?  If so, what is your favorite embossing color?  If not, and you have any questions about how to heat emboss, email me and I can help you out.  It is a fun, inexpensive way to make your projects pop!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope you were inspired, enjoy!
