Butterfly Birthday

Hello there!  Ready for another Pals Paper Arts Challenge? Get your creativity on with this fun color combination - Lucky Limeade, Always Artichoke, and a color of your choice!  We'll be ready to play on Thursday, March 1st, you'll have one week to link up your creation.  Hope you'll play along with us, you may use any brand of supplies, we can't wait to see what you come up with.

For my third color, I picked melon mambo.  I love pink and green together, so it was the first color that came to mind.  I also used The Paper Players sketch for this week to give me a great starting point.  This is a very big 4 x 9 card that will fit in a regular legal envelope.  Do you recognize this butterfly?  It is  made from the Mixed Bunch stamp set and matching Blossom punch.  You just snip a petal off the top and the bottom and voila, a butterfly.  I gave my butterflies some extra omph by using a piece of dotted scallop ribbon border which I crimped a few times to make ruffles.  A bit of tombo glue and instant ruffled butterfly wings.  I used some left over border and made a rosette out of it.

The background was stamped with the grass from the Just Believe stamp set in lucky limeade, the panel was put through the square lattice EF twice (top and bottom) for some definition.  I added a piece of pink pirouette lace ribbon border punch behind the butterflies to make the butterflies stand out.  A piece of always artichoke DSP was used from the Rich Regals DSP paper pack and helps to bring in my third color.

I needed a birthday card for a very dear friend, I thought that this would would work.  The decorative label punch was stamped with the Four Frames stamp set, and the happy birthday is from the Elementary Elegance SAB set.  The cutie ribbon bows are made out lucky limeade ribbon from the SAB ribbon and brad pack.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Your comments are wonderful to read, so let me know how you like this card.  Hope you were inspired, enjoy!

Wow! I forget the different card shapes every now and then. Nice reminder, and I've GOT to try these butterflies. Nice layering of the ruffled border punch underneath for a popping good 3D effect! Thanks for the inspiration, Celia

I like everything about this card and your selection of melon mambo was inspired with otherwise somewhat blah colors.

Hi Sandra! What else can I say but WOW! This is such a fun card! I really like how you turned the flowers into butterflies. I tried that once and mine did not come out nearly as beautiful as these. Wonderful mix of textures on your card, as well. Those bitty bows are a great touch. Thanks so much for joining us this week at the Paper Players! :)
