My First Paper Players Guest Designer Post

Welcome!  Today is my very first Guest Designer post for The Paper Players.  Today's challenge is Birthdays.  So grab your birthday stamps and play along!

I decided to do another medallion card, and the Big Top Birthday DSP just was begging for some attention, so here is what I came up with:

I started out with the large scallop circle from the Scallop Circles 2 die which was embossed using the houndstooth EF, and then added my pennant punches.  I first punched out the DSP, then punched whisper white and layered them.  Your wide ends will overlap a bit, but since this is hidden, it doesn't matter, but if you want a finished look, just snip off the overlapped pieces.  I stuck them on the back and then layered on a doily from the Flirtatious SDSP and curled the edges up.

The next layer is a real red circle, then a tempting turquoise piece of retired DSP punched using the scallop punch.  The Happy Birthday sentiment was stamped using the Perfectly Penned stamp set, I punched the edges with the decorative label punch

So here is the trick to layering.  You do not have to use the whole punched image, you can snip it apart and glue it back where ever you would like.  I did this with a real red and temping turquoise scallop oval punch.  The tempting turquoise was stamped with the Circle Circus stamp set and the ends were used.  For the real red punch, only the middle was used.  Quite a trick isn't it!

So are you still with me?  Great, I wanted to add a bitty bow, so I wrapped a bunch of baker's twine around my fingers and knotted it.  Very simple to make.  I attached with a glue dot and left the tails dangling behind the sentiment.  Some basic rhinestones and some retired tempting turquoise ribbon finished off the card.

I had some extra bits from the front, I always use those for the inside of the card.  The sentiment was stamped here in whisper white.  If I had some white embossing powder, I would of used it.  Guess what is going on my next order?  You guessed it, you just can't live without that stuff!  Thanks for stopping by, and if you have any questions, please ask!  Enjoy!  Please check out what the rest of the Paper Player's Design team is up to!
