Birthday Wishes

Hello there!  I have some May flowers to share with you today, thanks for joining me.  We have a fabulous sketch challenge over at the Pals Paper Arts this week.  I do hope you will join us, take a look at the sketch and play along with the fun!
How about a shop full of flowers?  You can't beat a stamp and punch combo, the Flower Shop stamp set makes beautiful flowers, and with the matching pansy punch, gorgeous flowers are a cinch to make.
I wanted to add some sparkle to my flower centers, so I made some dots with my versamarker, then heat embossed with my favorite gold embossing powderGold bakers twine makes fun loops behind the flowers.

Have you tried our vellum yet?  I have to admit, I am new to it, but find it easy to use.  It is perfect for that see thru look that is so trendy now.

Can you spy my fancy sewing at the bottom?  I wanted to mix up the sewing this week, I love how simple and easy it is to simply change your stitch for a WOW moment.

New DSP anyone?  This is DSP paper stack Moonlight, and it showcases a few of our new In Colors, you are looking at two of my favorites, blackberry bliss and lost lagoon, I love them!

This is one of my favorite cards I have made in a while, maybe it's the bold new colors and papers, maybe its the fun flowers, either way, I love it!

Wish Big Birthday

I needed to make a birthday card for Jacob, a 14 year old boy, and I have to say, my first thought was "What the heck am I going to use?"  I think man cards are hard, but a man card for a teenage boy has got to be the hardest thing ever to make.  Luckily the colors of this weeks challenge fit my needs perfectly.

I figured that the word bubbles framelits would work, but they were all smaller than I wanted, so I did a little figuring out how to make the framelit bigger.  I apologize that I did not take pictures during, but here is how you do it.
  • Figure out the size of the inside of your framelit.  This took a bit of cutting and measuring, your paper needs to fit somewhat snugly inside the framelit.
  • Tuck the paper through the middle, so that the bottom edge only will cut, figure out how much height you would like.
  • Run it through the big shot
  • Repeat the second step, but doing only the top, figure out how much height you would like, making sure your paper only is cut up top.
I knew that I wanted to use the make a wish stamp from the Perfect Pennants stamp set, so I knew how tall I wanted to make my new word bubble.  Whisper white craft ink makes a pop on the Bermuda bay.

To ribbon or not, I decided that even though this was a man card, you could still use ribbon.  What do you think?  Is this ribbon manly enough?  I think it ties all of the colors together nicely.
I do love the fresh prints designer series paper pack, the colors and designs all work very well together for a seamless look.
So what do you think?  I think the card would work for anyone.  I love to read your comments, so please let me know what you think.  You can also email me if you have any questions on how I resized the framelit.

Happy Birthday to Jacob, Max's little brother, he is really super sweet.  My sister is also in labor as I type this post (Wednesday), so maybe my new nephew and Jacob will share their day.  I am really looking forward to meeting little Evan!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope you were inspired, enjoy!
